David Willis McCullough's Biography
David Willis McCullough was born in 1937 in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, grew up in the Albany, New York, area and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1959. After graduate school at Stanford University and a brief stint on the Oakland (CA) Tribune, he returned to New York and spent the rest of his professional career in the publishing business, chiefly The Book-of-the-Month Club, where for a number of years he was a member of the editorial board.
Besides two mystery novels and a social history of Brooklyn (Brooklyn... And How It Got That Way), his published books include five anthologies (American Childhoods and Wars of The Irish Kings, among them). He has also published short stories, essays and many book reviews. He and his wife, Fran, a writer and editor, live in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
